Spend it at checkout

The code goes in at checkout, and the rest stays on the card.

A customer ordering online enters the gift card code at checkout. The card pays for as much of the order as it can, and the amount due drops to whatever is left.

  • Part of an order is fine. Whatever the card does not cover is charged to the customer's card as usual
  • Whatever is left on the gift card stays on it, ready for the next order
  • The card's own page lists every transaction and the balance remaining, so nobody has to keep track on paper
  • In the dining room a server opens the card, enters the amount of the check and charges it down, with their name on the transaction
  • Gift cards cannot be used on Uber Direct delivery orders

Cards are good for a year from the day they are bought. A card that has expired, has not been paid for, or has nothing left on it is turned away at checkout with a message saying which, rather than failing quietly at the end.

From your own website. They choose an amount between $25 and $300, give their name and email address, and give the name and mobile number of the person it is for. A personal note is optional. The payment goes to your Stripe account, not ours.

By text message, as soon as the payment goes through. The text names the buyer and your restaurant and carries a link to the card's own page, which shows the balance, the code and any note the buyer left. If the buyer gives an email address the card is emailed as well, and a buyer who would rather hand it over in person can check Print Gift Card and print it instead.

Yes. A card is charged down by the amount used and whatever is left stays on it for next time. The card's page lists the original amount, every charge against it and the balance remaining, so neither the guest nor your staff has to keep track of it.

Yes. The checkout has a Gift Card field: the customer types the code, presses Apply, and the card pays for as much of the order as it can, with the rest charged to their card. The one exception is delivery through Uber Direct, where gift cards cannot be used.

A card is good for one year from the day it was bought. Your settings show the date each card was bought and the date it expires. A code that has expired, was never paid for, or has nothing left on it is turned away at checkout, and the message says which.

Gift cards are an essential package feature. The buyer pays a $3.00 convenience fee on top of the value of the card, and the full face value of the card goes to your restaurant.
